Trip #4073

I actually really don’t know how many travel trips I have done in my life time, but it is a big number.  Sometimes near, sometimes far, but always worth taking a new eye to the world.  Tomorrow I am setting off for somethings a little different ~ I am going to Stockholm which is a big surprise to myself because I have been there only just over a year ago, but I do want to explore Sweden some more.  I will have a hire car to roam around in, and who knows what I might uncover exploring Sweden. I think it is safe to say I will get lost, and I am looking forward to that 🙂   If all else fails, Rod Stewart is in town ..old “Hot Legs” himself still going strong.  That could be a gig worth seeing.

The trip highlight, maybe, will be St Petersburg, Russia.  Many people have told me it is ‘Venice of the North’ due to it’s web of canals, and I have wanted to visit Russia for a long time.  This is certainly going to be the different, and I like different.  It is the second largest city in Russia and changed it’s name back to St Petersburg in 1991 after being known as Leningrad for 67 years.   Looking forward to drinking some vodka and watching the sun go down in this beautiful place.

Then I am heading home to England.  In my whole life I don’t think I have been away from home for as long as I have been since my last visit.  It was January 2015 when I left, so well over a year.  Proper fish and chips, familiar faces and places that I am so happy to see too.
It will be good to be back, and of course I will be finding time to visit my spiritual home of Burnley FC.

Hopefully there will be some new stories for the blog ….I’ll keep you posted.

  2. So exciting to see Stockholm and its environs in the sunshine! Say hello to Pippi for me, and ABBA if they’re in town. Can’t wait to get your take on the Hermitage and Peterhof if you get the chance to see Peter’s Summer Palace,

Have a wonderful time at home with your family and 3 cheers for Burnley!
Don’t forget Von Klopper!! Anne & LL!
