Sofia grows on me by the day, and today was one of those beautiful days that involves wandering around a new city and seeing where the path takes you. The fog of early morning lifted to form a bright and dry Sunday in the Bulgarian capital.
The day started at the Happy Bar & Grill, and I have to say produced the best meal I have had in Bulgaria, though that isn’t saying much to date. The amazing thing (very like able) about this restaurant is that the very attractive waitresses wore ridiculously short skirts. No explanation given, or needed.
From the ventures around the city following the map of must see sights in Sofia brought together a lovely city.

I found my way to a football stadium, obviously, and CSKA’s junior academy was practicing, and I have to say Bulgarian soccer need not worry about the Champions League on this evidence. Though the facilities were nice, and if I had time I might have offered my coaching services.
Onwards to a few more sights before J.J Murphys Irish bar to watch Newcastle United v Man City in an English Premier League game. More Wymehcko beer and a late afternoon watching a bit of football to pass the time.
The Sofia Metro system is wonderfully simple and a 15 minute journey took me back to the hotel in no time for 1 lev, which is around 60 US cents . I call it value for money.
The view from the 8th floor of my hotel room gives a nice evening view of an engaging city. Bulgaria I am warming to you !
