The Black Ball Ferry Line’s 341 ft MV Coho transports people from Port Angeles WA, USA to Vancouver Island in Canada daily, and has been doing this trip since Dec 29th 1959.  I became the latest addition to the 22 million passengers that have travelled this route over the years.

Despite having been in USA for over a decade, and only 90 minutes from Port Angeles, I have not previously made the trip to Victoria, Vancouver Island.  Though a combination of Canada Day, 80 degree weather and a rare day off was too good of an opportunity to turn down.  I arrived in Port Angeles clad in shorts & t-shirt for the day enjoying the warm sunshine; unfortunately Port Angeles has it’s own idea of weather, and it was decidely cold, misty and not promising. Fortunately as the ferry neared Canadian shores the sun shone brightly and the promised sunshine was out in abundance.

Canadians being Canadian

1st July 2013 Canada celebrate it’s 146th birthday, and I was fortunate to be able to be there.  I have to say the Canadians take their Independence Day seriously, and a huge number of folks out celebrating and wearing the colors and flag of their country, it was rather comforting to see a country have so much pride in their nation.  The Canadian flag is one of the best in my opinion, it is so distinctive, it just says Canada !
O’ Canada is the national anthem and it was frequently sung with gusto during the course of the day from the throngs of people in Victoria.

Basically Victoria is just really pretty.  As they say a picture paints a thousand words…
