Won’t You Show Me The Way to Montenegro

A Dog's Life at Budva

There are not too many Sunday afternoon drives that you take were you need to remember your passport.  In fact in my whole life I can account for none, but today changed all that as I headed to Montenegro from my base of Dubrovnik.

The drive down the Croatia Coastal Road (E65) and continuing down to Montenegro is amazing, no other word for it.  It is just wonderful view after wonderful view.  If you find yourself in Dubrovnik and with a car spend a day heading down this way !

Now I had no idea what to expect of Montenegro, but was so pleasantly surprised, again and again.  Budva is truly wonderful.  It has a charm that is hard to explain.

When you head behind the walls of Kotor you meet a place from the past, a place hiding that is truly a picturesque Mediterranean port.  You will find little alleyways that will surprise you.  It is a capturing beauty held within those walls.  The view on the way up to the Fortress will take your breath away .. if they don’t you can guarantee those 1350 steps will !!

I took a jaunt to the delightful Sveti Stefan for the panorama… and the above picture perfect didn’t disappoint.  A  place that was built in 1442.  They do say if you want to be historic you should go where the history is.

Montenegro is a jewel, no question.
